Respect is derived from the Latin word 'respectus', meaning regard.

Respect is an attribute or perspective of a person to show regard.

Respect means an attitude of consideration.

Respect is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements.

Respect is expressed by abiding to the people whom we respect — by listening to them, following their advice, and thanking the people whom we respect.

Usually, honor has a more formal meaning and is deemed to be higher than the term 'respect', which emphasizes higher esteem for someone or somebody.

Honor is a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something and is irrespective of personal likes and dislikes.

As a noun, honor denotes recognition or identification of significance or value.

As a verb, honor means to respect in a higher manner.
